The IPT wiki

For the IPT (Intelligent, Productive and Talented) students at some school, somewhere.

Ok, IPT students, here is your online resource for your IPT class. This wiki has been created for the use of IPT students a particular school in a particular place. It is NOT an alternative to turning up to class, it is designed to complement and reinforce the material covered in class and to enhance your learning experience. This site will be shared between 11 IPT and 12 IPT.

As I have figured out how to set up pages that can be modified by others, I have set up a couple of test pages, ready to be added to. There is the grade-11-test-page and the grade-12-test-page. In class you will be applying for membership of the site so that you can collaborate with other class members in modifying pages.

As for the discussion forum - it's started… Here are the recent posts.

Check this website regularly for new content and homework. Be sure to check the 'Site Update History'.

Here is a PDF summary of IPT, 2008. For in-depth content, use the menu bar at the top of the page to check out each unit (being updated as we go).

Unit 1 for 2008 is Computer Systems and Architectures. A few weeks worth.

Unit 2 for 2008 is Operating Systems and Programming Languages. A very short unit.

Almost all of the stuff we are covering for these two units are in the textbook 'Talking Computers' 2nd edition, by Kevin Savage. The full reference is as follows: Savage, Kevin 2001, Talking Computers 2nd edition, Education and IT Publishing, Toowoomba.

Unit 3 for 2008 is Algorithm Theory and Design - we have started our programming content, with emphasis on documentation, documentation, and more documentation. To be successful in this subject, you need to be able to document everything - have I stressed that enough???

Unit 4 for 2008 is Software Programming, which is being studied in parallel to unit 3. For these two units, our text is 'Algorithms, Programming and Delphi', again by Kevin Savage. The full reference is: Savage, Kevin 2002, Algorithms, Programming and Delphi 2nd edition, Education and IT Publishing, Toowoomba.
